Saturn in Pisces last time
The last time that Saturn transited through the sign of Pisces was from May 21, 1993, to April 7, 1996. During that timeframe, there was a resurgence of hate and extremists anti-government militias that included radical-right terrorist plots, and conspiracies. In 1995, two anti-government extremists used a homemade bomb to destroy the Alfred P Murrah Federal Building in Oklahoma City. The Oklahoma City Bombing was at the time the deadliest act of homegrown terrorism in United States history. Anti-government Montana Freemen Standoff began and will last 81 days. During the same time period The Taliban, Muslim religious extremists gain power in Afghanistan and terrorist Osama Bin Laden issues a Declaration of Jihad.
The Clinton administration was plagued by congressional investigations and sex scandals. The Freedom of Information Act was created, there was bipartisan support for the Federal Assault Weapons Ban, and Welfare reform gave block money grants to states to distribute funds without oversight effectively diminishing a safety net for women and children. The United States and North Korea signed a nuclear agreement. The North American Free Trade Agreement was approved. In 1994, one of the worst known cases of espionage was discovered. Aldrich Ames, a 31-year counterintelligence officer was found to have been a KGB double agent and was convicted of espionage spying for the Soviet Union and Russia.
In South Africa, Nelson Mandela is elected President and the South African Constitution allows black citizens the right to vote for the first time. Boris Yeltsin wins in the first democratic election in Russia’s 1,000-year history. Genocidal civil wars broke out in Rwanda and Bosnia/Croatian. Israel and the PLO recognize each other existence but the peace process was derailed by the assassination of Yizhak Rubin. In one of the world’s longest-running guerrilla conflicts, the militant Irish Republican Army announced a historic ceasefire which unfortunately only lasts 17 months.
In popular culture, Kurt Cobain committed suicide, Latin singer, Selena was murdered, and Grateful Dead member, Jerry Garcia overdosed. The United States public was captivated and polarized by the OJ Simpson murder trial.
